Automated Rules-Based Publishing

Once your videos are ingested into CEDR and married to their metadata and policies, you are ready to publish them. Videos can be published by pushing them to sites and services of your choosing or by pulling them into systems that you control. When videos are published, they are programatically transcoded into the appropriate format for the destination site or service and delivered or made available to that site or service. SIVOO can even provide you with streaming links and serve your video for you from the Internet edge. Publishing consists of:

  • Creating a “Media Package” in CEDR that represents a video file, its metadata and policies.
  • Outputting a “Distribution Package” for each distributor in the required video and metadata format.
  • Pushing or making Distribution Packages available to distributors via FTP or API.
  • SIVOO can provide a video player and XML feed or API to transmit video/metadata to your site(s).
  • Reports are brought back into the system as video is picked up, transmitted, or viewed.

Why Publish This Way?

Video may be distributed to consumers across a wide spectrum of services. Your video could go to the top-5 Internet video sites, two IPTV services, a mobile carrier, and a MSO network for instance. CEDR’s automated, rules-based publishing makes it possible to scale video output to meet the demands of our new three-screen world. There is also a need to allow both pull and push publishing of electronic files as many large aggregators prefer to pull files into their systems, while leading Internet sites prefer to have files pushed to them.
